| With a lower cost of living, low pollutions levels, and higher scores in education related tests (Verbal and Math SAT), Oklahoma offers a reasonable choice to move to. However the child health in the areas of infant mortality, teen birth and death rates are alarming. So are the increasing crime rates. OK is rightfully referred to as Indian Country – it has native American population larger than any other state has. The tribes also have excellent museums. Powwows take place every weekend from May through September and are almost always free and open to the public. Apart from all kinds of water sports, you may find these interesting to escape in the weekends - National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, the annual OK Mozart International Festival in Bartlesville held in June, the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore, the Cherokee Cultural Center with a restored Cherokee village, the restored Fort Gibson Stockade near Muskogee, the Lake Texoma recreation area, pari-mutuel horse racing at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, and Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw. |
